Prairie Side ACE Hardware, currently located at 3755 80th St. in Kenosha, has broken footing for construction of a new store.
The new location is one block east at 3505 80th St., where Chase bank in one case operated a drive-through facility. Construction and outfitting the new shop volition have nine months, allowing an opening by leap of 2021.
Participating in the groundbreaking were Dave Frost, Brian Nelson and Larry Nelson of Blight-Nelson Inc., the general contractor for the project; Santo Lee, regional manager for Ace Hardware Corp.; Marilyn and Gary Dickes, the local owners of Prairie Side ACE Hardware; Randolph Sherwood of Start American Bank, which is providing financing for the project; and Eric Migrin of Partners in Design, builder for the projection.
Along with Bane-Nelson, First American Banking concern and Partners in Pattern, several subcontractors take been selected from the local Kenosha expanse to complete the structure.
Ace Hardware Corp., headquartered in Oakbrook, Ill., has had a presence in Kenosha for over 70 years, with stores operated by a number of local owners.

"This will be our all-time store however for Kenosha, using our cornerstone shop design and product assortments," Lee said.
The new store will be approximately twice the size of the current location, and will allow more space for a garden center, propane filling and expanded selections within the store.
"Of course nosotros are excited to put this new shop right in the centre of this revitalized stretch of 80th Street," Gary Dickes said. "I think the neighborhood is going to enjoy it. While times might seem uncertain, I remain optimistic about the Kenosha area."
Gary and Marilyn Dickes are longtime residents of Kenosha. They opened Prairie Side Hardware in 2009.
